THE FOUR ROOSTER INN

THE HORACE CARTER MUSEUM

The Horace Carter Museum is located at the Tabor-Loris Tribune newspaper offices this museum displays the history of the town of Tabor City through the eyes of the Town’s Pulitzer Prize winner, Horace Carter. Horace Carter founded the newspaper back in the 1940s. Come see the equipment used to produce this weekly paper and perhaps have an opportunity to talk with this famed author by calling the office at 910-653-3153.

TABOR CITY SCHOOL HOUSE

A circa 1900 One Room School House was restored by the historical society of Tabor City and Columbus County. This facility was purchased and donated to the Town of Tabor City by Richard and Jenny Wright. Come and relive the old days when life “was simple and oh so mellow”. Call the Visitor’s Center across from the site to obtain a skeleton key for entry. Open daily from 8:30AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday and 1PM to 4PM on Saturday and Sunday.

THE TABOR CITY RAILROAD DEPOT

The Tabor City Railroad Depot is located behind Main and Fourth Streets. The depot maintains a number of artifacts depicting the days when the railroad was an integral part of the daily living in town. Come see a replica of the town in the early 1900s as well as pictures of prominent citizens who led the town to its present growth. Contact the Visitor’s Center for a key to the museum. Open daily from 8:30AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday and 1PM to 4PM on Saturday and Sunday.

MAXIE WILLIAMSON MUSEUM

The Proprietor Maxie Williamson has painstakingly restored many old farm pieces of equipment and machinery along with period signs to include old Coca Cola advertisements etc. This one of a kind museum can be visited by appointment only at no charge by calling 843-756-1682. A must see.

LAKE TABOR

This 100+ acre recreational lake is complete with a bait and tackle shop, piers, boat launches, picnic areas and ball fields. A recent addition to the Lake has been the construction of the Lake Lodge. The Lake Lodge is ideal for family events. Contact the Town Hall for rental information at 910-653-3458.

THE CORN MAZE

Each year Strickland’s Farm Produce utilizes its corn harvest remnants and creates a corn maze during the fall season. TABOR CITY VISITOR'S CENTER

Occupied in December 2006 the Visitor Center provides travelers a place to rest and obtain information about Columbus County, Tabor City, and North Carolina. Located at the corner of Fifth Street and Pireway Road this former gas station was converted into a modern and aesthetically pleasing facility. Information relating to Correctional Facility activities can be obtained at the center. In the future the Visitor Center will be the site of various art and flower shows.
