Tabor City, North Carolina is located in Columbus County, North Carolina in the
southeast corner of the State. The County is rural with agriculture, specifically
corn, sweet potatoes and tobacco as the main crops. The municipality has a population
of 2500 and is located within a 25 minute automobile ride to the Grand Strand
(Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Brunswick County, North Carolina). Major employers
include Southeastern Materials (manufacturer of wood trusses for housing), Atlantic
Publishing Inc. (paper products and conversion), Filtec Precise Inc. (high tech
spinning operations), Hart & Cooley, Inc. (manufacturer of flexible duct for the HVAC industry), Tabor City Lumber (added value processors of wood products),
and Metal Spinners Inc (Manufacturers of metal products). Located on the North
Carolina and South Carolina border, Tabor City has quick access to Route 9 and
the newly constructed road, Route 31 serving downtown Myrtle Beach. Furthermore,
Tabor City has prepared for its growth by installing an excellent infrastructure
complete with its own sewer treatment plant. Natural gas has been installed for
commercial use at the Town’s Industrial Park.
