COMMUNITY INFORMATION
Tabor City, North Carolina is located in Columbus County in the southeast corner of the State. The County is rural with agriculture, specifically corn, sweet potatoes and tobacco as the main crops. The municipality has a population of 2,500 and is located within a 25 minute automobile ride to the Grand Strand (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Brunswick County, North Carolina). Tabor City has quick access to Route 9 and the newly constructed Route 31 in South Carolina. Tabor City has an excellent infrastructure complete with its own water and sewer treatment plant which makes it ideal for residential and commercial development.
EDUCATION
Columbus County has 22 schools that include elementary, middle and 4 consolidated high schools. Tabor City has one elementary school, one middle school and one of the consolidated high schools, South Columbus High School.
Higher education consists of the Southeastern Community College-enrollment 2,400, in Whiteville, the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW)-enrollment 10,000, University of North Carolina Pembroke-enrollment 5,632, and Coastal Carolina University-enrollment 4,500 in Conway, South Carolina.

CULTURAL & RECREATION
The Columbus County Arts Council and the Southeastern Community College Cultural Services provide the majority of the activities in the County.
UNC Wilmington, UNC Pembroke and Coastal Carolina have a series of plays, recitals typical of any major University.
Thalian Hall in Wilmington has a variety of plays, concerts and performances.
The North Carolina Museum of Forestry in Whiteville celebrates the natural history and cultural heritage of our forests.
