The North Carolina Yam Festival is set for Oct. 19th – 27th. Begin by attending the North Carolina Yam Pageant on Saturday, October 20th at South Columbus High School. Admission is $8 and the pageant begins at 6:00pm. There are many other events such as the Sweet Potato Pancake Supper, Sweet Potato Food Cook-Off, an Art/Photography show and the highlight of the festival, the “Taste of Tabor”.
This year’s Taste of Tabor will be held at the home of Tim Wright. A delicious meal will be served and entertainment will be provided as well. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 years old and under. Tickets can be purchased at the Tabor City Chamber of Commerce, Tabor City Public Library or from any board member.
Exhibits by Tiger Tater can be viewed at the Tabor City Library and there will be arts, crafts and food galore!! A talent show, Little Farmer and Farmerette pageant will take place as well.
The Yam Festival Parade will be on Saturday, October 27th at 10:00am and to wrap things up a Street dance will be held on Friday, October 27th at the Ritz Plaza beginning at 6:00pm and going until you can’t dance anymore!! We invite you to attend our festival and celebrate the delicious yam!!!
